20x Land Rover Wheel Nut Indicators 

We've lost count of the amount of trips we've been on where wheel nuts come loose on a vehicle. 

We believe that it you should be fastidious about torquing your wheel nuts to the correct value, but we know that this doesnt mean that they dont come loose. 

If it hasn't happened to you then it's just a question of time

When your wheel nuts come loose, at the very least you get a funny rumbling sound. You can wreck your wheel studs, ovalize the holes in the wheels, or at worst, a wheel could come off totally; which could be catastrophic. 

Here we have a set of 20 x Wheel nut indicators.

Loose wheel nut indicators are used extensively by the transport industry as an enhancement and development of fleet safety roadworthiness procedures, daily walk-round inspection and defect reporting and scheduled maintenance requirements.  Its use allows accurate monitoring for loose wheel nuts and helps prevent wheel hub damage or the loss of a road wheel should a wheel nut loosen. They are a visual aid to the driver. 

Application:

The wheel nut indicator is fixed to the wheel nut by gripping the six corners of the hexagon of the wheel nut. When the wheel is being fitted out the pointers should be aligned and set in a recognisable pattern. Should a wheel nut loosen off, the wheel nut indicator has no option but to move with the nut and so break the recognisable pattern that was set, thus indicating the wheel nut has begun to rotate and therefore to loosen.

Also known as Anchor Dee Rings, these are great for holding things in place in the back of vehicles, on boats, caravans, campervans or in the garage at home. 

We bolted 4 of these to the floor of our Land Rover Discovery and it was one of the best things we ever did! Using rachet straps, we were able to secure our tool box, onboard fridge and a host of other things. 

Very useful for tradesmen who need to secure things in the back of their vans too. 

We think they are worth their weight in gold!

The cable is made from 3mm multi-strand galvanised wire with a protective red pvc sheathing. 

At one end - the "vehicle end" - there is a galvanised carabina. At the "trailer end" a cadmium plated spring fitting is there. 

The cable is 1.0 metre long & around 5mm diameter, suitable for any trailer particularly the larger 3500kgs ones. 

If your trailer becomes unhitched from the towing vehicle these will apply the brakes before snapping - that is why they are a legal requirement on all braked trailers.

Failure to have a properly attached & functioning breakaway cable on your caravan or trailer could invite a £60.00 fixed penalty notice & 4 points from those nice people at VOSA or the Police.
